Our Story

​Mark’s Outdoor Power Equipment has been a family-run Northville staple since 1974, when Mark King, together with his sister Kay, his wife Ellen, and his parents, began repairing small engines from the back porch of the family home on Northville Road. That modest beginning grew into a half-acre dealership that expanded its original Cape Cod style site, added a warehouse in Plymouth, and acquired the neighboring parcel as our customer base grew.

What started as a small residential service shop has become a trusted resource for homeowners, school systems, colleges, municipalities, commercial landscapers, and arborists across Southeast Michigan. We proudly serve more than 200 residential clients with our winter tune up pickup and delivery program and represent leading brands including Toro, Husqvarna, Hustler, Echo, RedMax, Billy Goat, Briggs & Stratton, Kawasaki, and Kohler. Our strong parts and engine business is now further enhanced by our growing digital platform.

In 2024, as Mark’s celebrated its fiftieth anniversary, Mark partnered with M Tech Dealership Management to help guide the business into its next chapter. M Tech supports owner operated dealerships and provides operational expertise while allowing founders to stay involved without the burden of daily administration. With this partnership, we began developing the adjacent property to expand our service area, add onsite warehousing, and create a modern showroom focused on electrified equipment and green technology.

On February 9, 2025, our new company was formed to carry the Mark’s legacy forward. Mark now serves in a consultative and key sales role alongside our leadership team, General Manager Brad Chiasson and Service Manager Steve Dickelman.
